You must be a pretty miserable person, mojave. With the way the economy is going, you may end up like these 3rd world types you're complaining about. Get off your high horse.
Hurricane Katrina ... ( 2 weeks ago by NatesChannel)
Hurricane Katrina was a tragedy of their own making. They had days of warnings to evacuate. They knew that a gigantic hurricane was going to hit New Orleans head on. The government offered FREE transportation by use of school buses, Greyhounds, etc. Yet the stupid fools and imbeciles who diecided to stay put themselves into the position that they were in. Why should I have pity for the dead or the suffering of Katrina when they did this to themselves? they had a choice-- the wrong choice.

That's where you're wrong. The people complained about the mayor of the city because there were plenty of school buses just sitting there in the yard, and he didn't do a thing about it. I saw it on news more several times. He made up some excuse about people probably not wanting to drive the buses. They even showed all the yellow school buses just sitting there not being used.
Louisiana Governor ... ( 2 weeks ago by NatesChannel)
Louisiana Governor Lathleeen Blanco and the National Guard offered FREE transportation to Houston, Texas before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Those stupid people had a choice, to take the offer or stay and die or suffer.
That was Houston, ... ( 2 weeks ago by imthekingoftheworld)
That was Houston, Texas. I don't remember anything or anyone providing free transportation in New Orleans - nothing! All Gov. Blanco was concerned about was looting. Why did it take so long for these people to get any help? Most of these people did not have cars to evacuate, otherwise they would done so.

The black people ... ( 2 weeks ago by murat8080)
The black people couldnt escape because there was a secret invisible wall around Katrina that made it impossible for blacks to escape.Whites could walk through the wall and were able to escape but the wall had a special ability of only trapping the blacks.

actually, an eighty foot oak tree destroyed the back half of my house and my aunt and uncle died. i know its not as simple as saying "katrinas over" and i know that more people died, but i do know how hard it is to rebuild and i do know the effects of losing loved ones from this storm. from your comment, it sounds like you were nowhere near the storm, even if you DO live down south. if you read my comment well, youd see i was in baton rouge, not hit as hard as NO, but still in her path

I live outside New Orleans and I am furious about how this could have been prevented. The loses and damages could have been dramatically lowered if NOLA had the right hurricane protection and levees... and of course FEMA and the aftermath could have been a lot better too.
